about me
a critical ethnographer with a focus on racial and social justice
I am an international scholar with a strong track record in research, teaching, and public engagement. As an ethnographer working across sociology, anthropology, and human geography, my research critically engages with racialisation, migration, and social policy in the Global North.
I currently lead a Leverhulme-funded project investigating racial governance and spatial inequality in Denmark’s public housing policies. This research sits at the intersection of social policy analysis and urban ethnography, and contributes to emerging debates on borders, surveillance, and welfare state governance. My recent monograph, Navigating Colour-Blind Societies (Routledge, 2024), offers a comparative transatlantic ethnography of Muslim urban life in Copenhagen and Montreal.
I have extensive experience in curriculum development, teaching, and pastoral care at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the United Kingdom and Canada. My interdisciplinary pedagogy is grounded in critical theory and inclusive practices that centre student engagement, critical thinking and intellectual curiosity. My work has informed policy debates, legal challenges, and UN consultations, demonstrating a deep commitment to producing research with real-world impact.
