about me
a critical urban ethnographer with a focus on racialised experiences
I am an international scholar with a strong track record in research, teaching, and public engagement. As an urban ethnographer working across sociology, anthropology, and human geography, my research critically engages with racialisation, Islamophobia, and social justice in urban contexts. My monograph, Navigating Colour-Blind Societies (Routledge, 2024), offers a comparative ethnography of Muslim urban life in liberal societies. I currently lead a Leverhulme-funded project investigating racial governance and spatial inequality in Denmark’s public housing policies.
I have extensive experience in curriculum development, teaching, and pastoral care at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the United Kingdom and Canada. My interdisciplinary pedagogy is grounded in critical theory and inclusive practices that centre student engagement, critical thinking and intellectual curiosity. My work has informed policy debates, legal challenges, and UN consultations, demonstrating a deep commitment to producing research with real-world impact.
